San Fransisco

Well after we left the Monteray Bay area, we stopped at a huge small crops area barn and bought local produce for a song. The paddocks go  right down to the cliff faces, such a contrast. Orange pumpkins are everywhere, with Halloween coming up! We actually stopped and walked on the sand putting our feet in the Pacific Ocean on this stretch, and it was literally freezing! No-one else is crazy eough to do this, such beautiful warm days, but the ocean is freesing - such a shame!
We got to our RV park just out of San Fransisco - Candlestick Park which is right beside the San Fransisco 49ers stadium!   We cn et  shuttle into San Fran for $10 a head, which is cheap, say a 25 min drive and can check out what we need to from there.  We went in after we'd settled in, and after  a bit of hasselling, were able to get tickets to Alcatraz - which are pretty hard to get on short notice, but we had to book a hop on/off tour, which was a good thing to do anyway.
We looke round the piers went to Fisherman's wharf, had some local beers, Luanne bought clam chowder to bring home and I had to buy a dundgerness crab which tastes like a sandy but looks a bit like a muddy.  Loved it, as I suspected haha! We had dinner in tonight and John cooked his infamous rissoles - which went down a treat - although we'd all had a few!

Sat - 22/9/12 - Got our shuttle into San Fran and did the hop on/off tour for couple of hours which was good.  Went across the Golden Gate Bridge, and froze everything off!!! Pretty spectacular though. Ater that we caught the boat out to Alcatraz and spent a few hours there - an amazng place and sooo interesting hearing about the attempted escapes and what they all went through.
Heading into San Fransisco

Hello! We're home !

It was freezing when we came back on the 5.30pm boat and we could see the fog sceaming in and the temps just dropped!  Very, very cold! Pretty much like a Brisbane winter, and we're in summer clothes!  When we got back on shore we waited for ages for a trolley car and there's no workplace health and safety here that's for sure! People just hang off the sides and jam in every which way! We caught it to China Town and had a huge feed there which was awesome, caught our shuttle back and am now savouring a lovely Naper Valley Red and ready for bed.  G'night y'all xoxo
