Well, I've finally started this blog - thanks to you all for your patience! We've been having a great time so far, many many laughs, drinks and adventures! After we landed, we had a bit of a sleep then caught an afternoon tour around Hollywood/Beverly Hills etc and saw where the stars live etc. The tour guidesscould tell us anything and we'd believe them - how would we know? It seems surreal to be here and as you can see, Hollywood is very dry and rocky. Beverly Hills is much nicer for sure!
After a full on arvie being tourists, we found a steak house close to where we were staying and had a great meal. The Americans believe they have the best steak in the world but it's probably ours anyway! Of course there was a bucking bull and Mick and Daryl had to have a go. Mick did well and stayed on, but Daz got bucked! What a hoot! John had hurt his foot and couldn't give it a go, but we're sure we'll come across another one in our travels. No photos of this unfortunately, but have videos!
We spent the next day pretty much at the golf shop where the boys and Luanne got new clubs - very happy, then went and did some shopping for a few hours.
Day 3 was a trip down to Santa Monica and the Pier. Pretty cloudy unfortunately but still all great to see. Weather has been really hot and sunny in LA. Th guys were then supposed to go back and pick the clubs up, but decided to stop in at as many bars as they could, and nearly missed getting the clubs as they were close to closing!
Whilst they were trying ales, us girls of course had to go shopping on Rodeo Drive and came across this lovely little run about! We did actually buy something on the Drive, albeit small, but just had to!
Day 4 and the boys were getting over their copious amounts of consumed Coronas, so we went into Hollywood and had to go down the Walk of Fame! It's great and of course we walked up the red carpet into the Dolby Theatre where the Acadamy Awards are. Can't beliee we're here!
We then had to say goodbye to LA and picked up the RV's around 1pm and finally got to our RV park at Newport around 7pm! What a crack up! First thing we had to do was stop at a Walmart and get a GPS! And Walmart is another story! For some reason, John's our leader RV (surprise surprise!) and we had to drive on an 8 lane highway out of LA heading towards San Diego. The traffic was unbelievable but we were flying down the T2 lane and lost the others. We had to finally try and pull over and wait for them to catch up, then we thought the highway patrol was going to book us as we later found out that we can't travel in the T2 and we can't do the speed cars do - we have to go 10 miles an hour slower! Unbelievable! We now have the walkie talkies charged up so hopefully things will settle down a bit now. Quite overwhelming driving on the wrong side of the road and all! We're going to stay here in Newport for a couple of days and are playing golf this arv - have to christen all the new clubs of course!
Good to hear you have organized yourselves with golfing, a couple of drinks and a GPS. Now the GPS can get ALL the blame for you getting lost. Good luck with the Highway Patrol....mention my name....I'm sure it will help!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday and don't forget to drive on the right side of the highways, makes it easier to get to where you need to go!!!!
Love Pam and Vernon
