We left Morro Bay fairly early and drove on up the beautiful coastline to Carmel. Stunning coast and such a contrast from the ocean to the barron Santa Luis Mountains. We stopped at Hearst Castle which was pretty amazing and the castle was left to the State of California so that everyone could enjoy and appreciate it and not be sold off eventually, we guess, by the family. Such opulence and it took from 1919-1947 to be built importing historic European artworks, and building and rebuiling many times. The pools, indoor and outdoor, are fantastic and Hearst always had guests there to share it with him - political figures, movie stars etc. He must have been a very generous sort of a guy - or just loved to party!
Our RV is the last in the convoy today - Darryl's the leader. It is good for the guys to change places, as there's a bit of concentration to be had in being the leader haha!
Drove past some more fantastic coastline, Through an Elephant Seal colony where they come to mate - apparenty it can get a bit dangerous when the males are ready for it! Jade Cove, in Las Padres Nationl Park, that no-one's really ever heard of has just stunning views from the cliff faces. We did have to stop and have a beer/wine at a place called Mill Creek just to actually take it all in and enjoy it.

Beautiful Coastline
Lazy elephant seal

Such a contract on the coast between sea and mountains

Our Carmel by the River - back in time but just lovely
We got into Carmel by the Sea about 6pm and found an amazing RV park called Carmel by the River. We stepped back in time somewhat, but it was clean and so incredibly quiet. Most parks are right on the roads, and noisy. Had an early night tonight as even though we didn't cover a lot of miles, the roads were windy so couldn't travel too fast.
No wonder you haven't got time to blog!! You are too busy being a tourist. Don't get lost in the desert and watch out for mating males near the beach.......
